Well hello there!! I have been doing some website admin and realised I haven't written a blog since Autumn 2023!! Ooops!
I thought I would give you a little update from Make it Sew HQ!!
Sew Like a Pro (SLAP): FULLY BOOKED
All sewing lessons now take place at Union Mills Methodist Church Hall on a Thursday. This has been a huge success, and we actually had 11 sewers this week! The atmosphere and energy in the room was amazing - I wish it could be bottled!!

Make it Sew HQ:
Needs a jolly good clean!! During the winter, it was rather chilly in there, so it was a dump-and-run situation. It has been cleaned and organised several times since then, but it's not staying tidy as I haven't figured out the optimum flow yet, since it's just little old me in there now.
Make it Sew Social Media:
I have been soooooo baaaaaaaad recently with not posting anything!! I take pictures during lessons as I am so excited about what everyone is making, and then before I know it, it's Thursday again and I haven't shared anything!! I will try to do better.
CrafternoonTea:
It is now 7 years old, and we still have some of the original members, and new people are still hearing about it! We are doing fewer blankets for causes and more cash donations to local charities. Our latest was to the Forget Me Not, Admiral nurses. We are still meeting on Thursdays from 1 to 3 and every other Saturday from 10 to 12. It's best to check the Facebook page to make sure of the Saturday dates!!

Memory Bears: ORDER BOOK CURRENTLY CLOSED
I still love doing these, but I am limiting how many I do as I want to be able to give them the love and full attention that they deserve, and because of my crazy schedule, that wasn't happening.

Monthly Subscription Boxes: STOPPED
I loved doing these, but they were SO time-consuming because I wanted the videos and instructions to be of a professional standard, and I struggled to maintain that with my other commitments.
Tea with Fi: STOPPED
Sadly, Tea with Fi has stopped - hopefully not forever - but I just am so here there and everywhere at the minute, there really was no guarantee that I was free at 5 pm on a Friday!! Let me know if you want me to bring it back - we could start a petition !!

Joyce & Shelagh:
As you know, I have been doing lots of sewing with Joyce for the last 8 years. This continues to be the case - she is 97 this year!! Shelagh, Joyce's daughter, is now a regular attender at Sew Like a Pro. At one point, I was teaching 4 generations of Joyce's family - how cool is that!!

What's New:
Q: BOM (Quilt block of the month): FULLY BOOKED
2 Saturdays per month, I run a quilt workshop. This has been so much fun! This Saturday there will be 11 again!! It is such a nice way to introduce people to sewing. We are doing different blocks which will be quilted separately, then joined together. This has also evolved as sewers' confidence grows, and they are now creating their own quilts with my support.

Part-time working for the Methodist Church:
I have also been working part-time for the Methodist Church since September, so that has involved a bit of hour-shuffling and plate spinning - but I am having a great time, and it was a natural fit with what I was already doing. We had our first Beetle drive this month, which was so much fun and well attended. Follow our Facebook page to see what's on. (it's not been active for a while, but that's about to change!!)

My projects:
Well, I have finally finished my Green Wool coat that I bought the fabric for at Harrogate in 2023! (No picture of it finished, sorry.) I have also finished a cute quilt which I wanted to try out on a quilting frame - before I buy one (maybe!) It didn't fit, so I quilted it on my fab Dina the Bernina 570QE with the walking foot on and wiggly lines. The sewezi table was great for this, as were the quilting gloves I used !!

What's on the horizon:
TT preparations:
2 weeks until I will be in the kitchen at Union Mills Methodist Church doing dishes and prepping food for our fabulous spectators.

Festival of Quilts:
I am super excited about going to the Festival of Quilts for the first time this year. I wonder how much stuff I will buy!! (I haven't finished making the things I bought at Harrogate over the last 2 years!!) It's a full-on Girls on Tour affair this year!! Myself, Lynne, Shelagh, Nikki, Kathy & Debbie are all going. What can possibly go wrong (hehe)? I feel some new material for James' next Crafternoon Sewcial club book coming on! (If you don't already know, my husband James has written a series of books based on my sewing lessons, crafternoonTea, and Joyce is one of the characters!! )

First coffee & craft market:
CrafternoonTea is hosting our first craft market in August this year. There will be 8-10 local artisans as well as a crafternoon makers table. Union Mills Methodist Church has THE BEST BAKERS EVER (in my opinion), so there will be amazing cakes as well as tea & coffee. I am so excited about this, but just need to get through TT first before I can really get stuck into the organising of this! - If you have said you would like a stall, please be assured that I am aware and will be in touch on the other side of TT once I catch my breath.
Remembrance Day:
The crafternooners are busy working on a poppy installation for Remembrance Day, which is going to look amazing. We haven't done one before, and I was delighted at the member's suggestion of it. It has been fantastic to see the teamwork in action, and I can't wait to see it when it's finished - keep an eye out for it nearer the time. If you would like to help, then check out the Facebook page.

Knit & Stitch show:
As if one show isn't enough, we are then going to Harrogate again in November!! Well, it got cut short last year due to the weather, so it would be rude not to!!
Cozy Christmas tree project:
CrafternoonTea, in conjunction with the family library, is doing a Cozy Christmas tree project. This was also suggested by the crafternooners and has been so well supported. More information regarding getting involved in this can be found on the Facebook page.

Sorry that went on for sooooo long - but there was a lot of catching up to do!! I quite enjoyed summarising xx Oh, and on a personal note, I haven't bought any tins, stationery or bags this year!! How's that for will power!!
Love to you all.
Fiona xx
