Precious Memories

I can’t remember where the idea came from to make a memory bear from Lucas’ school uniform, it certainly wasn’t me who came up with the idea, although it was a new idea to me.

I quickly received my first “commission” to make a leavers elephant and I’ve not looked back!

The range of animals has grown!

  • Elephants

  • Cats

  • Dogs

  • Wolves

  • Koalas

  • Llamas

  • Flamingos

  • Lions

  • Bunnies

  • Orangutans

Cushions and quilts are also regularly made.

The reason behind the request differs each time.

  • Baby momento

  • Leaving nursery school

  • Leaving primary school

  • Leaving high school

  • Going to Heaven

Each make is uniquely personal to the beneficiaries and I feel really privileged and humble to have been tasked with such an important responsibility.

I enjoy getting to know the wearer of the items through the stories of the beneficiaries.

Each item is unique and takes time and care to decide what fabric to use where !!

I never truly know what it will look like until the final stitch is sewn.

The joy that these items bring to the beneficiaries is very clear on collection day. For some they bring a degree of peace and comfort too.

Knowing that something I have made is bringing joy, comfort and peace to someone else is why I make these.

I am full of joy that you keep asking me.
